As far as climate is concerned, Washington DC’s reputation is bad. It is alleged to have been built on a swamp. It is said that this was because it was supposed to be a center of bureaucracy and bureaucrats wanted to discourage people from living in DC. This is, of course, untrue. Getting around Washington is mainly done on foot. It is said to be the healthiest city in the United States. There is a metro available, but this doesn’t seem to reach all the important places. Driving is an absolute nightmare so if you are looking at schooling, be prepared to get fit and healthy and walk. The circulatory bus has become more user-friendly in recent years, so this may be an alternative if you really are opposed to walking.
